POSITION TITLE: INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT III – 6.5 hours/day – Junction City High School
POSITION DESCRIPTION – The person in this position is supervised by a building administrator and will work in classroom settings, in groups, and with individuals, providing academic and behavioral support to students including those with learning disabilities. Responsibilities will primarily focus on math support in algebra and geometry, as well as Language Arts. General office and cafeteria duties will be assigned, as well as other assignments based on need. Independent judgment and decisionmaking are required in many matters not having established rules, regulations, or precedent.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
1. Have an AA degree, two years of college, or pass a competency exam.
2. Possess strong math and ELA skills.
3. Possess strong oral and written communication skills.
4. Possess the demonstrated ability and creativity to help others learn concepts and skills.
5. Possess the demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and patiently with at-risk and SPED students.
6. Possess the demonstrated ability to work closely with school staff to plan for and address student learning needs.
7. Possess the demonstrated ability to maintain positive discipline and a positive learning atmosphere.
8. Possess the demonstrated ability to supervise in unstructured areas such as the cafeteria.
9. High ethical and confidential standards consistent with District policy and Federal and State law.
10. Willingness to learn, support, and adhere to JCSD policies and procedures.
11. Possess or have the ability to obtain a current first aid card.
12. Must be willing to be fingerprinted for a criminal history records check;

QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED
1. Experience working with high school students individually and in small groups (classroom academic support).
